Nancy Poteet, 90 resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday evening, September 29, 2019.
Daughter of the late Eliga and Nola Goins, Nancy was born and raised in Bradley County. She was a devoted wife to the late Ralph Poteet and loving mother to her daughters Kathy Eaves and Cynthia “Sam” Hensley. Nancy retired from JCPenney and also served as a gray lady volunteer for 25 years at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of Peerless Road Church and truly loved her church. Nancy loved to travel and enjoyed anytime she spent with her brother James on Lake Tansi, long visits with her great grandchildren and her cat, Trouble.
In addition to her parents and husband Ralph she is preceded in death her brother Ronald Goins and sister Eunice Goins. Those left to cherish her memory is her daughters Kathy Eaves and Cynthia “Sam” Hensley (Tom); loving brother, James; granddaughters Conswella McMurray, Meagan Branson and Brooke Hilliard; great grandchildren (that will also serve as honorary pall bearers) Zachary Thompson, Eliga Hilliard, Macey McMurray, Logan Nunley, Griffin Smith, Evan Nunley and Noah McMurray; nephews, Mike Goins (Esther), Chris Goins (Brenda); special “adopted” children, Joe and Pam Cunningham, Marvin and Anita Eskew, Harold and Laurie Walker; as well as many special friends and extended family.
The celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 6:00 at Peerless Road Church located at 3301 Peerless Rd. Cleveland TN 37312. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service time from 4:00-6:00, with the Rev. Adam Jones officiating. Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens the following morning October 4, 2019 at 10:00 am. Marvin Eskew, Joe Cunningham, Harold Walker, Mike Goins, Chris Goins, Tom Hensley and Bruce Hilliard will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr. Chattanooga TN 37416.
