Michael "Ernie" Shackelford

Michael Ernest "Ernie" Shackelford, 56, went home to be with the Lord January 9, 2026.

He was born September 15, 1969 in Athens, TN . He fought many health battles most of his life, and was the strongest man I have ever known. He loved to take his son Landon fishing and hunting. He loved to plant a garden and could grow anything. He loved making his family laugh and was the BEST at telling stories. His strength and courage amazed me every day while keeping his faith with Jesus.

Ernie is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Shackelford; his sister, Sherry Shackelford; his stepmother Tammy Shackelford; his grandparents Kenneth and Mattie Shackelford, and Harold and Cathern Cate; and his aunt Patricia Kay Shackelford; and his Father-in-law, Clarence "Rod" Gore.

Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 24 years, Natasha Gore Shackelford; his beloved son, Landon Michael Shackelford whom he adored; his dad, Mike Shackelford; his brother Travis (Julie) Shackelford; his sisters, Myranda (Blake) Walden, and Makayla Linger; his sister in laws, Wendy (Kirk) Morgan, and Nikki Gore; his mother-in-law, Wanoka (Dean) Ballew; and his uncle Kenny Shackelford; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

There will be a graveside service for everyone Friday, January 16, 2026 at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 2:30pm, officiated by Brother Jerry Stephens. Pallbearers will be Dennis Underdown, Josh Underdown, Kirk Morgan, Wes Prichard, Dewayne Hill, and John Cate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Landon Shackelford, Travis Shackelford, Dean Ballew, Luke Morgan, and Tyler Roberts. In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to the family to help with funeral costs. You may also make donations to the American Heart Association in his honor.
