Michael Eugene Martin, age 67, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. Born on April 12, 1959, Michael spent his entire life in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the place he proudly called home.
Michael was a devoted and loving husband to Lisa Martin, his wife of 33 years, and an exceptionally proud father to Nathan Ryan Martin, Mary Glavich, Nicholas Glavich, Emily Thurman, and Quinton Martin. He was also a deeply loving grandfather to Mckenzie Abdu, Kenlee Glavich Toutoute, Ainsley Thurman, Michael Martin, and Hannah Martin, whose lives brought him immeasurable joy. His love for his family was boundless, and those closest to him always knew they were his greatest priority.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene Martin and Sylvia Elaine Cass Martin.
He is survived by his sister, Tammie Elkins (Patrick) of Chattanooga; his aunt Carole Aversa of Morristown, Tennessee; and his aunt Kay Spearman (Bill) of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his beloved cousins Melissa Wright, Tim Spearman, Bill Spearman, and Belinda Grimes, all of Chattanooga and surrounding areas; his cherished nieces and nephew, Savannah Olson, Tanner Olson, and Aubrey Olson.
A hardworking man through and through, Michael spent over 20 years in the restaurant industry. He later continued his career with DuPont and McKee Foods, always doing whatever was needed to ensure his family was taken care of. He deeply valued the friendships and connections he made with colleagues over the years. His strength, dependability, and quiet sacrifice were constants his family relied upon and deeply respected.
Michael found his greatest joy in simple, meaningful moments-family gatherings filled with food and laughter, tending lovingly to his flowers, caring for his cherished animals Penny, Petunia, and Nelly, and planning family trips that created lasting memories. His favorite place in the world was Key West, Florida, a place he loved dearly and spoke about often. He also had his own simple comforts that became part of who he was-rarely seen without a big glass of sweet tea in hand and always appreciating a fresh pair of white socks, small things that brought him quiet happiness and will forever be fondly remembered by those who knew him best.
Known as the talker of the family, Michael truly never met a stranger. He was outgoing, warm, and genuinely interested in people, with a natural ability to strike up a conversation anywhere he went. His extroverted personality drew others in, and his presence made rooms feel fuller and brighter.
He was a man of deep wisdom and curiosity, with a lifelong love of history and storytelling. Michael had a way of making stories come alive, sharing them in ways that captivated his family and connected generations. He loved watching Jeopardy, often knowing far more answers than expected, and enjoyed discovering a good new TV show or reading on his computer.
Above all else, Michael was a constant source of love, guidance, laughter, and stability. His voice, his stories, and his huge heart will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, connection, and devotion to family will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
In accordance with Michael's wishes, His remains will be laid to rest through cremation at 2415 Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
