In Loving Memory of Melissa Faye Gabehart-Trantham
Melissa, age 58, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2026. She was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, nana, and a friend who wasn't afraid to tell it like it was.
Growing up, she spent her time at Bradley Central where she was a member of the band and the swim team. She eventually went into nursing, a career she stuck with for many years. She was a dedicated nurse who truly cared for her patients, even if she didn't always have the patience for the red tape that came with the job.
She was a total pistol-quick-witted, sharp, and usually the person with the fastest comeback in the room. She wasn't one for toxic positivity; she was real about the ups and downs of life, but she always found her own way to make the best of whatever hand she was dealt.
She was at her happiest when things were simple: being outdoors, sitting on the beach, or just listening to good music with some good food. Her two dogs, Milton and Boog, were her world, providing the kind of easy companionship she valued most.
She is proceeded in death by her father, Hilbert Gabehart, mother, Ella Pylant, brother, Randy Gabehart, son, Tristan Knox, niece, Paige Gabehart and best friend, Nina-Jo Holland.
She leaves behind a family who will miss her grit and her humor: her husband, Curtis Trantham, son, Addison Trantham, daughter, McCayla Trantham, step-daughter, Maggie Swafford, her granddaughters, Nylah Woody, Amethyst Knox, and Deja Caraway, sister, Patty (Randy) Jones, brother, Bradley Gabehart and her lifelong best friends Blue Watts & Julie Doss. Along with her nephews, nieces, aunts, uncle and many cousins whom she loved.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home - The Cleveland Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Welsch-Rogers Cemetery in Sale Creek, TN, where she will be laid to rest.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Melissa or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
