Melissa Moore Kinney, age 67, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on September 14, 2026, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Melissa was born on January 26, 1959, in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, to Lamar and Rose Moore. Throughout her life, Melissa's faith was an important part of who she was. She had a close and meaningful relationship with the Lord, and she found comfort, strength, and hope in her faith. Her love for God was reflected in the way she loved her family and those around her.
She is survived by her children, Aaron Kinney, Hannah Humbard (Justin), and Will Kinney; her beloved granddaughters, Elizabeth and Caroline Humbard; her sister, Marty Gronek (Mike); and her brother, Wally Moore (Natalie). She is also survived by several nieces and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Kinney, and her parents Lamar and Rose Moore.
While Melissa's family and friends grieve the loss of her earthly presence, they find comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father. They take comfort in the promise of John 11:25 "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live." Her family holds tightly to the hope that this separation is only temporary and that, one day, they will be reunited with her in Heaven.
Melissa leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and family. The lessons she taught, the prayers she prayed, the memories she created, and the love she shared will continue to live on through the generations. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in knowing that she has finished her earthly journey and has been welcomed home.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home - The Cleveland Chapel. A service celebrating Melissa's life will follow at 3:00 p.m.
