Melissa J. Holman, a beloved daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on February 16, 1960, in Columbus, Georgia, Melissa touched the lives of many throughout her journey, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and dedication.
Melissa was the cherished daughter of Milton and Martha Holman, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her dear brother, Michael Holman. She is survived by a loving family, including her beloved niece, Lexi Triplett (Colton), and her devoted cousins, Lori McCollum, Mark McCollum (Anissa), Connie Michelson (Larry), Dennis McCollum (Kay), Rick McCollum, Denise McCollum, Lou Ann Hesler, Leslie Neal (Scotty), and David Elliott. Each of them carries forward the warmth and kindness that Melissa embodied.
A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Melissa earned her Master's in Nurse Anesthesia and went on to practice anesthesia from 1991 until her retirement in 2022. Her career allowed her to travel to many locations, delivering care and compassion to patients, and she was cherished by colleagues and patients alike for her professionalism and her vibrant spirit.
Melissa was not only dedicated to her profession but also to her family and friends. With a remarkable sense of humor and an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand, she was the kind of person who would do anything for those she loved. She had a zest for life, and her humor was infectious. Melissa had an unbreakable bond with her mother, and cherished every moment spent together.
Outside of her professional life, Melissa had a passion for travel, frequently visiting the stunning landscapes of Aspen and the vibrant streets of New York City. Her adventurous spirit extended to her love for animals, as she devoted time to various local animal rescue programs, reflecting her compassionate nature. Her pets, Sadie and Josie, were treasured companions who brought her joy and comfort.
Melissa's life will be celebrated on December 14, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on all those fortunate enough to know her.
