Melissa Beth Hummel

Melissa Beth Hummel, 41, passed away in the arms of her daughter and close friends on August 26th, 2021 at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, TN due to medical complications. Melissa was born on December 31st, 1979, in Carson City Michigan to Mike Hummel and Lois Hummel. She was raised in Palo, Michigan. She graduated from Carson City High school and pursued a career as a waitress and bartender. In 2018 she moved to Cleveland, Tennessee with her daughter Layla. She became a part of the Cleveland community and made it her home until the time of her death. Melissa was a very hard worker. As a single mother she ensured that her children would never have to go without anything even if that meant sacrificing her precious free time to pick up extra shifts. Outside of work Melissa spent her time with her family and friends. She was a mother to all young souls that entered her life and helped guide them to work hard for what they wanted. She inspired by being a humble, honest, and caring in all aspects of her life.

She fell in love with Tennessee. She would always say her hippy soul felt at home here. She loved to be outdoors and made the most of it whether it was lying in the sun with some tanning oil or hiking in the mountains. She loved babysitting the neighborhood kiddos. Her bright, sweet nature was a ray of sunshine for everyone around her. She made everyone feel loved and appreciated. She touched so many lives with her positivity and inspiring words. Melissa always said “when you feel like you have hit rock bottom the only way is up “. Melissa’s spirit will live on and her ray of sunshine will shine brightly from the heavens. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children Layla and Joshua, her father Mike Hummel, and brothers Mike Hummel Jr and Max Dustin. Along with her family, she is survived by her granddaughters of choice, Ciani and Omeretta.
