Maurice Demarco Jones

Maurice Demarco Jones "Smurk", age 67, entered into his final resting place on September 9, 2026.

He was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Pearline and Owen Jones Jr. Maurice attended Ooltewah High School where he was active in sports. He attended St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church as a small child where he actively sang in the choir. Maurice was a gifted pianist and played for his church for many years. He coached basketball, baseball, and football for O.Y.A where his sons grew up playing. Maurice was a man of enormous faith and shared God's word with everyone he came in contact with. He loved to laugh, workout, play the piano, wear his hat to the back, but most of all he loved his family and Jesus.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Pearline and Owen Jones Jr., a special niece Jamie Jones Brown.

Maurice leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 26 years Jennifer Lynne Jones; his children, Letreivia (Kevin) Hardnett, Hayden Demarco Jones, Dawson Tyner Jones, Takoda Joshua Jones, his grandchildren, Kennedy Hardnett, Kevin Hardnett, and his lil big shot Halen Demarco Jones; his siblings, Carlos (Shannon) Jones, Verna (Marcus Pettaway), Kosygin (Sherri Jones); a special cousin Wade McPherson; a lot of nieces and nephews that adored him; and lots of extended family and friends.

His faith, laughter, and love for his family will remain in our hearts forever.

Homegoing service will be Sunday September 20, 2026 at 2:00 pm at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church located at 8120 Old Cleveland Pike Collegedale, TN 37363 with Pastor Keith Jones and Pastor Lamechee Jones officiating.
