Mary Anne Wilkey

Mary Anne Wilkey, 71, a long time member of the Signal Mountain community, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 13, 2026. She was born in Chattanooga Valley and moved to Chattanooga in the Brainerd area as an infant. She is a member of the Brainerd High School Class of 1972.

In her long working career, Mary Anne was an administrative assistant at Buster Brown Apparel and Komatsu America Corporation. She was working at MPL Construction at the time of her passing. She was the one who knew all her coworkers and customers by name and likely knew their birthdays too, the same for the Food City staff, her Sunday School class and her family as well.

In 1979, she married Robert Bruce Wilkey of St. Louis, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Irvin and Marie Huber. Her son, Alan Keith Wilkey, survives her as well as her brother Joseph E. Huber (Susie), and sister Lydia J. Weathersby (Roy deceased). Extended family include nephews Mark Huber (Dawn) and Gregory Huber with their children Michael, Kathleen, Samantha (Mark), and Lydia (Gregory).

Conservation, nature and environment were watchwords for her having met her husband through the Sierra Club. She loved the birds in her yard as well as Chipper, her parrot, and cherished family dogs.

Mary Anne was a lifelong United Methodist and an active follower of Christ at Burks UMC where she served as a trustee and passionate worker in the mission activities of the church. The entire congregation mourns her passing.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service in memory of Mary Anne at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 31. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM and at a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Burks UMC Mission Programs, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343 for memorials in recognition of Mary Anne’s wonderful service to the community.
