Mary Lou Thornton, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. Born on April 29, 1935, Mary Lou lived a life centered on family, simple joys, and cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mauveen Evans and Robert Park; her sisters, Ann Corbin and Loena Dill; her brother, Grover "Leach" Park; and her son-in-law, Loyal "L.A." Broomfield.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Lafonda McRae, Congetta "Connie" Broomfield, and Donna Rinker (Scott), along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Mary Lou found happiness in life's quiet pleasures. She loved spending time reading, working puzzles, and decorating her home, creating a warm and welcoming place for those she loved.
A graveside service to celebrate Mary Lou's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, Tennessee, with Pastor Mark Deakins officiating.
Mary Lou's kindness, love for her family, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
