Mary Roberts went to her heavenly home on Dec 23rd, at The Laurels of Hendersonville, NC. Mary was born in Jellico, TN to Jess and Fannie Hill on January 24, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roberts, son, Glen R. Leach, father of her children, John Leach, her parents, Jess and Fannie Hill, and her siblings, Earl, Lloyd and Jeromne Hill, Ruth Arnold, Ella Partin, and Bonnie Hall.
Mary is survived by daughter Kathy Leach Meadows(David) of Asheville NC , daughter in law, Karen Leach of Cleveland, TN, grandchildren, Coby Leach, Atlanta, GA, Cameron Meadows(Trisha), Asheville, NC, Andy Meadows(Haley), Castle Pines. CO, Leslie Leach Davis (Joe), Cleveland, TN, great grandchildren, Cameron Davis. Nashville, TN, Aubrey and Brenna Meadows, Asheville, NC, Owen and Jacob Meadows of Castle Pines, CO, Special nieces, Becky Cantrell(Scott), Beth Johnson(Tracy) all of Cleveland, TN, Special friends Rick and Kathy Hefner, Ross and Debbie Bradley, all of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by several other nieces and great nieces, and nephews.
She graduated from Jellico High School. She was an All State Guard on the basketball team her senior year. She was in the Beta Club. She earned an Associates Degree in Business from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
After moving to Cleveland TN in 1959, she worked at Arnold School as the Supply and Ice Cream Store Manager. In 1965, she went to work at Hickory Springs of Cleveland, TN. She was in Sales the last 20 yrs and won Salesperson of the Year 6 times.
Mary was a member of the Azalea Garden Club back in the 1960's, where she won many ribbons for her flower arranging. She was very active in her churches: Stuart Park and then Westwood Baptist of Cleveland. TN. She once served on the Finance Committee, and she was very active with the Senior Ministry at Westwood.. She was a member of the Joy Givers Sunday School Class at Westwood as well. She served as President of the HOA of Ocoee Trace Condos for several years. She excelled in her organizational skills and problem solving, and was said to be able to get things done Ina a timely fashion. She was well respected for these abilities.
Her family was her pride and joy. She was very active in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's lives. She witnessed to them about her faith by the way she lived. She was honest, straight forward, kind, and loved unconditionally. She babysat for her great granddaughter, Cameron, from birth to preschool. It filled her days with so much joy. She got to live next door to her 2 other great granddaughters, Aubrey and Brenna, in NC for 2 years. Such precious memories were made. She witnessed Brenna being saved and baptized. Her other 2 great grandsons, Owen and Jacob, came and visited her several Thanksgivings in NC and all the grands and great grandchildren were at her 90th birthday celebration.
Mary loved all University of Tennessee sports. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
She was so loved, and will be missed, but her legacy will live on in her surviving family and friends.
The family will be receiving friends on December 30, 2025, from 6:00-7:00pm, at Companion Funeral Home- The Ridge Chapel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held December 30, 2025, following the visitation, at 7:00pm at Companion Funeral Home- The Ridge Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Finnell officiating.
A Graveside service will be held on December 31st, 2025, at 11:00am, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Coby Leach, Cameron Meadows. Andy Meadows. Joe Davis, Scott Cantrell, and Tracy Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Senior Ministry of Westwood Baptist Church, Cleveland, TN.
