Mary Lucille Ownby

Mary Lucille Ownby, age 96, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Mary was a loving mother whose family held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed reading and found comfort and joy in the simple things in life. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She treasured her church family and the relationships she built throughout her life, including her work family at Signature Healthcare. Mary will be remembered for the love she shared and the lasting impact she made on those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Elvie Brown; her loving husband of 62 years, Duel Ownby; and her son, Gary Ownby.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dean (Wilma) Ownby; her sister, Opal Knight; several nieces and nephews; her beloved church family at Macedonia Baptist Church; and her work family at Signature Healthcare. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories of her life, her faith, and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Companion Funeral and Cremation Service located at 2415 Georgetown Rd. NW Cleveland, TN 37311. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m., with Michael Cawood officiating.
