Mary Katherine Smith

Mary Katherine Smith, 77 of Delano, TN, passed away March 12, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. “Mama”, “Nana”, “Ninnie and “BestGirl” were all titles she was proud to wear. She has left this world for her heavenly home which she made her reservation for so many years ago. She was of the Baptist faith and had a long, joy filled but tiring life.
She is preceded in death by her infant child-“Baby Smith”; parents, Mary Almina Visage and Ernest Eugene Visage; older brother, Ernest Eugene Visage, Jr.; two infant brothers, Ernest William and David Eugene Visage. Mrs. Smith also wished to recognize a second mother who preceded her best friend in life, Mary Swann.
Survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Howard Smith; daughters, Mary (Matt) Calhoun and Lori (Jeremy) Brown, both of Delano, TN; adopted daughter, Deanna Logan, of Cleveland, TN; “second momma”, Elizabeth (Friday) Carlton, of Sanibel, FL; baby sister, Martha (James) Duggan, of Charleston; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Charity (Eric) Kinser, Larissa (Caleb) Bodley, Dillon Tragesser, Faith Brown, Matthew Calhoun, Sarah Brown, Xander Smith, Carson Kinser, Stella Bodley, Landon Kinser; special adopted ones, Kay (Drew) Ramsey, Astra Ramsey, and Axl Ramsey. Mrs. Smith would also like to recognize her “extra” brother, Brenny Swann and wonderful friends, Jay and Sylvia Brown.
The family will hold a private graveside service that will be conducted by Jeremy Brown and in lieu of flowers, Mrs. Smith requested that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
