Mary "Crazy Mary" Clewis, 62, of Reliance, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on April 21, 1964, in Fulton County, Georgia, to the late Waide Christopher Clewis and Marvine Elizabeth White Clewis.
Mary was of the Baptist faith and attended Open Door Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Tennessee. She had a free spirit, a heart full of love, and a bright smile that could light up any room. Affectionately known as "Crazy Mary," she earned her nickname through her contagious laughter, fun-loving personality, and ability to bring joy to those around her. Mary never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome.
Above all, Mary treasured her family. Some of her happiest moments were spent by the river, surrounded by her girls and grandbabies, making memories that will be cherished for years to come. Her wild spirit, laughter, and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, William Darrol Clewis; her granddaughter, Nevaehgrace Stiles; and her son-in-law, Tommy David Fugate.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three daughters, Genora Treadwell, April Elizabeth Fugate, and Tammy-Christina Pike (Joshua Ryan Pike); her sisters, Cyndi Clewis Park and Debbie Jones (Steve); and her brother, Chris Clewis (Diane).
Mary was a loving grandmother to Myriam, Micah, Madison, Meadow, Kinsley, Paisley, David "DJ," Emberly, Levi, Timber, and Landry. She is also survived by her nieces, Cara (Terry), Dwan (Micheal), and April Mathews; her nephews, Matt Burley, Sean Rivers, and Scott; her beloved best friend, Sonya Peterson (Mike); and her godchildren, Ashley, Austin, Gage, Isaac, and Zack, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Mary will be remembered for her unforgettable personality, infectious laughter, and the unconditional love she shared with her family. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the joy she brought to others will live on forever.
Mary's family will receive friends from 11am until 1pm on Saturday November 7th in the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. She will be laid to rest following the visitation at Archville Baptist Church Cemetery.
