Mary Ruth Chancey

Mary Ruth Chancey, age 91, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on April 28, 2026. She was born in Copperhill, TN, and lived much of her life in Blue Ridge, GA. She had a heart of gold, and her love was unfailing. She always put others before herself. She was a woman of integrity and deep faith.

She was a devoted wife of 73 years to her late husband, Roy E. Chancey. She is preceded in death by her son, James E. Chancey, and great-grandson, Colten E. Gravely.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ruth Quinn Massengale; sister, Barbara M. McGill; brothers, Sonny, Johnny, and Edward Massengale.

Mary is survived by her children, Keith (Mabel) Chancey, Pat (Jim) Bailey, and Mike (Gina) Chancey; grandchildren, Heather Hicks, LeAnne (Trey) Hicks, Melissa (J.B.) Bailey, Bella Chancey, Matt Bailey, and Brad (Angel) Bailey. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Tyler (Tori) Gravely, Clayton Gravely, Lexi Gravely, Kitt Bailey, Kalla Bailey, Boone Bailey, Obie Bailey, and Jethro Bailey; sisters-in-law, Jerrie Sue Massengale and Carolyn M. Bozeman also survive.

She was loved by many and will be missed forever.

The family will have a visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, The Ridge Chapel, located at 2412 Georgetown Rd. NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. She will be laid to rest at Crestlawn Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
