Mary Evelyn Buckner

Mary E. Buckner, age 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2026. Born December 5, 1950, in Cleveland, TN.

She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. One of her greatest joys was to cook for her family and have plenty leftover for visitors, where they were greeted with a warm smile of welcome.

She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Wesley Buckner; her children, Meshell (Richard) Lesniewski and Kimberley (Shawn) Akins; siblings, Dallas "Wayne" Earwood (Jackie), Mamie (Alfred) Dixon, and Terry Earwood; her two grandchildren, who she absolutely cherished and adored, Sarah (Ethan) Evelyn Jones and Madelynn Grace Hicks-these two were the lights of her life; and three step-grandchildren, Joshua, Elijah, and Shanna Akins, who she loved dearly. She also had a very dear friend, Zell Denton, who she referred to as her second mother.

Those who welcomed her home were her infant daughter, Annette Marie Burgess; daddy and mother, Dallas and Lydia Earwood; mother- and father-in-law, Virgil and Martha Buckner Thomas; stepfather, Harry "Chip" Thomas; she was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Clinton; one sister, Patricia (Noah) Voyles Green; and special nephew, Stevie Dixon.

Family will have a visitation on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 2415 Georgetown Rd. NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m., with Richard Lesniewski officiating. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Chestuee United Methodist Church Cemetery.
