Obituary for Malcom Ernest Elrod
Malcom Ernest Elrod, aged 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on July 21, 2023, at his residence in Chattanooga. He was born on April 13, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late MC and Ann (McBride) Elrod. Malcom was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ and also attended St. Martin's Episcopal Church
Malcom was a true family man, and his loved ones always came first. He took great pride in his yard and found joy in working on it, creating a beautiful space for his family to enjoy. An avid reader, he always found solace and knowledge within the pages of books. He earned his Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Tennessee, and his love for his alma mater extended to the University's athletic teams, especially the beloved Vols. Malcom is a Marine and served our country proudly.
He is survived by his sister, Elaine Parkerson, and his brother, Bruce Elrod. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Jessica (Ben) Stansberry.
Malcom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, his son Justin Elrod, and his daughter Laura Gamble. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark. Their memory will always be treasured by those who loved Malcom.
The family will hold a memorial service on August 2nd. 2023 at 11:30 AM at Rossville Church of Christ to celebrate Malcom's life and honor his memory. Additionally, the interment will be a private affair at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
In remembrance of Malcom’s life and his passions, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to The Shriners.
Mac will be remembered as a loving husband and caring brother. His dedication to his family, his love of learning, and his enthusiasm for his favorite sports teams will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire and bring comfort to his family and friends.
