Luther "Stanley" McKee, age 85, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 9, 1940, to the late Robert and Gertrude McKee.
Stanley was a devoted man of faith and attended Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle in Athens, Tennessee. He found great joy in listening to gospel music, spending time outdoors, taking walks, and especially fishing. Known for his generous spirit, Stanley was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a giving heart and faithfully supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. His sense of humor and quick wit brought laughter to those around him and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen McKee; and his siblings, Charlie, Robert, Clifford, Marie, Ruth, and Lou.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving children, Melissa Woodby (son-in-law, Hank Sherwood) and Kenny McKee (Daughter-in-law, Debbie); his cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Alana, Kaylee, Tyler, and Brianna; and his adored great-grandchildren, Kameryn, Bree, Braylen, and Kaden. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice of Sweetwater and the staff at Sweetwater Living for their compassionate care.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home in Athens, Tennessee, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by John Wynn. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Madisonville, Tennessee.
