Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luke Ward Stepp, who left us far too soon on October 26, 2025, at the young age of 18. Born on December 19, 2006, to Gregg and Robin Stepp, Luke was a beloved son, a dedicated friend, and a shining light in the lives of all who knew him.

Luke had an infectious love for sports. He brought his energy and enthusiasm to the basketball and soccer fields through Upward Sports, where he built lasting friendships and cherished memories. A die-hard Tennessee Vols fan, he found joy in watching football and rallying for his team. He cherished spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying the natural beauty around him. As he approached graduation, Luke was excited to pursue a degree in Forestry Service at Cleveland State-an ambition that reflected his deep love for nature.

Luke's kind heart and generous spirit were evident in everything he did, including his passion for helping others. He delighted in filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, embracing the joy of giving. His faith in the Lord guided him, and he was a devoted follower of Christ, living with compassion and integrity. Those who worked alongside him at Ace Hardware and Discount Tire were touched by his warmth and kindness, as his smile had a special way of lighting up the room.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Pat Hodgin; grandfathers Edwin Stepp and Bill Ward; cousin Shane Hoskins; and an infant sister. Luke's memory will be cherished by his loving parents, Gregg and Robin Stepp; his grandparents, Herb and Marion Stafford, Jan Ward, and Peggy Stepp; his aunts and uncles, including Melody Stepp (Greg Samples), Detra Green (Mike), Leslie Britton (Mark), and Laura Revard (Dave), Eddie Stepp, Sean Ward, and Chad Ward (Laura); as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and many friends who loved him dearly.

Luke's family will welcome friends on Saturday, November 1st, from 12 PM until 3 PM at The Chapel Cleveland, located at 2412 Wolfe Drive, Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of Luke's life will follow at 3 PM, providing an opportunity for all who knew him to come together in remembrance of the joy he brought to the world. After the service, he will be laid to rest at Moore's Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan's Purse may be made to PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.

We invite all who knew Luke to share personal memories or condolences with the Stepp family at his online memorial found at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Stepp family during this difficult time. Your love and support mean the world to them.
