Lonnie Morgan Miller, 76, of Harrison, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on February 28, 1949, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lonnie was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He later spent the majority of his career building power-generating plants for J.A. Jones Construction, Lockwood Greene Engineering, and Black & Veatch Engineering. Throughout his career, he and his family were fortunate to have lived in 26 different cities across the United States and Canada. He advanced impressively in his career, and he loved mentoring young engineers. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Lonnie was a true gentleman. He never met a stranger and was known for his positive attitude, his generous spirit, and his willingness to teach and inspire others. Lonnie was a lifelong Christian who loved his Lord and took great joy in sharing that love with others. He loved woodworking and carpentry and had an instinct for anticipating project obstacles and devising clever ways to overcome them. He could build or repair anything. He had a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph O. Miller Sr.; his mother, Mae Helen Jones; and his sister, Gloria Beasley and her husband, Don.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeannette (Jan) Miller;brother, Joseph O Miller Jr. (Terri); sister, Shirley Michael; sons, Keith Ponsell (Emily), George Kinghorn, Sean Blanco (Susan), and daughter, Tamara Miller; grandsons, Rhys and Rafe Blanco;his two fur-children, Simba and Pepe; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Lonnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be announced later this fall.
