Linda Mae Hammontree

Linda Hammontree, age 77, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.

Born on February 12, 1949, in New Richmond, Ohio, Linda lived a life marked by strength, perseverance, and unconditional love for her family. She courageously battled lupus for 27 years and faced numerous health challenges throughout her life with determination and grace.

Linda dedicated 29 years of service to McKee Foods before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and the love she freely gave to those around her.

Above all else, Linda was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was especially close to her grandchildren Aiden Bryant, Bella Bryant, and Connor Jones, who brought her immense happiness and countless cherished memories.

Linda found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved attending car shows, spending time with her beloved animals, and relaxing with a coloring book in hand. Whether she was admiring classic cars, caring for her pets, or enjoying a quiet afternoon coloring, she found happiness in the moments that made her feel special.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Elizabth Knox; her husband, Richard Hammontree; and her daughter, Lisa Phillips; and two grandsons, Cody Carver and Derek Shipley.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory of her children, Lee Davenport, William Fannin, and Brandi Jones; her sister, Susan Pena of Indiana; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, strength, and love.

The family is especially grateful for the precious time they were able to spend with Linda after she returned home earlier this month. Those moments together created memories that will be treasured forever.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home - Cleveland Chapel, 2415 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, with the funeral service beginning at 6:00pm Reverend Mickey Clark will officiate.

Though she will be deeply missed, Linda's family finds comfort in knowing that her pain and suffering have ended. Her legacy of strength, resilience, compassion, and unwavering love her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
