Liesl Nicole Martz

Liesl Nicole Martz, 57, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, after a long and courageous journey. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed more than words can express.

Liesl was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Beth Lorenz Vines; her maternal grandmother, Roberta Lorenz; her maternal grandfather, C.W. (Bill) Lorenz; her paternal grandfather, George Martz; her paternal grandmother, Patsy Jean (Childress) Martz; and several beloved aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Stan and Wallis Martz of Franklin, Tennessee; her stepbrother, Collin Martz (Andrea), also of Franklin, Tennessee; her stepfather, Judd Vines of Cleveland, Tennessee; her stepbrother, Brad Vines of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her stepsister, Meredith Hall (Johnathan) of Herndon, Virginia; her aunt, Robin Oughtred (Chris) of Cleveland, Tennessee. Her uncle, Carl Llewellyn Sr, of Cleveland, Tennessee. Several close cousins, numerous extended family members and a host of special friends.

Liesl was driven and accomplished. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she studied psychology, she went on to pursue work in healthcare and juvenile services. Her education and career reflected something that was always at the heart of who she was-a genuine interest in people, their lives, and their stories.

To those who knew her best, Liesl was so much more than any one title could describe. She was family, a confidante, a source of laughter, and a fiercely loyal friend. She built a large extended family not only through blood, but through the countless relationships she nurtured throughout her life. She loved her family and friends with her whole heart.

Liesl was also an animal lover and had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Foxy, who brought her companionship, comfort, and joy.

Liesl's presence in the lives of those who knew and loved her will never be forgotten. She will be remembered for her laughter, her loyalty, her love for family and friends, and the many meaningful relationships she built throughout her life. The love she gave and the memories she created will remain with those who loved her always.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Liesl's memory to The Launch Pad, supporting sober living for women, or Room In The Inn, supporting women and children affected by domestic violence.

There will be a funeral mass held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 12:00 noon at St.Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church of Cleveland located at 900 Clingan Ridge Drive in Cleveland, TN. Father Mike Nolen will officiate. The family will receive friends on that Tuesday at the church from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon in the church vestibule.
