Lester Eugene "Gene" Haney

Lester Eugene "Gene" Haney, 86, of Georgetown, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. Gene was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late Hubert Lester Haney and Selva Whaley Haney on January 12, 1940.
Gene loved farming, you could always find him tending to his cattle, checking in on his garden, or working in the hayfield. He could grow the best vegetables, and loved to share them with anyone that stopped by for a visit.


Gene proudly served in the Army National Guard. After returning from the National Guard, he began working for Randolph Kersey & Arnett Kirksey where he was employed as an accountant. Gene loved his work and most of all helping others. He later went to work for Cannon Construction where he handled all of their accounting needs. Towards the end of his career, he decided to offer accounting services from home (Haney Accounting Services) where he enjoyed staying in touch with his friends and clients.
Gene regularly attended Eastview Baptist Church. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John F. Haney and Callie Haney; maternal grandparents, Lawson and Ezalee Whaley; and his siblings, Hubert Junior Haney, and Mary Jane Haney Pierce.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Linda Haney; daughter, Gena (Frank) Faulk; grandson, Bo Faulk; great grandson, Levi Faulk; his sister, Juanita (Gary) Houston; his nieces and nephews, Scott (Kim) Houston, and Todd Houston, Diannia (Dennis) Melton, Shauna (Shaun) Cavett, L.J. (Shelly) Falls, Shane Falls, Kimberly (Dave) Harden, and Hubert Junior (April) Haney II; his stepsons, Tony (Patty) Gregg, and Tim (Betty) Gregg; and his stepdaughter, Pam Higgins; along with a host of extended family and friends.


A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home - The Ridge Sanctuary with Pastor Rick Haney and Pastor Shane Lawson officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery with Scott Houston, L.J. Falls, David Chase, John Owens, Jason Burch, and Dennis Melton serving as pallbearers.
