To enjoy a lot of creative dishes and fun conversation, you could turn to Anne Brendel.

To the very end, she was feisty, funny, and fully committed to her God-given gift of hospitality.

Anne died in her sleep on July 15, 2056, at age 93.

She was born Leona Anne Jacobs in Ashland, Ohio, on Friday the 13th in January 13th of 1933, the eighth and final child of Harley Dale and Martha Fern Jacobs.

Anne was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. Over her non-Christian father's objections, she earned a degree from Great Lakes Bible Institute in Zion, Illinois. There, a classmate introduced her to a tall skinny Air Force sergeant named Richard "Dick" Brendel.

The pair were married - and have been inseparable - for 73 years. They've been the beloved "official grandma and grandpa" to their church family, who have savored Anne's many culinary concoctions: Rouladen, Bill's Brunch, cherry cheese tarts, and the list goes on.

Anne is also survived by their two sons and daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren: Doug with wife Kris, and their children Natalie, Kristofer, and Lydia; and Ron with wife Chery, and their daughter Anna Marie.

A celebration of her life will be announced later this summer.
