Laura Jerles

Laura Leigh Jerles, 56, of Athens, TN lost her battle with cancer on September 10, 2025 at Parkwest Medical Center with family by her side.

Laura was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially their time together at the pool, where her love and laughter shone brightest. Compassionate by nature, Laura dedicated many years to serving others as a home health nurse, caring for countless patients. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and though she was taken far too soon, her love and memory will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her father, Michael Shelhorn; and son, Taylor Jerles

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Chris Jerles; children, Jakob (Brittany) Saffles, Hunter (Kaley) Saffles and Brandon Jerles; grandchildren, Kaisen, Waylon, Elijah, Jayce, Camden, Haleigh; mother, Nell Shelhorn; sisters, Carol, Dawn, and Kim; many nieces, nephews and other loved family members.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday September 16, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Companion Funeral Home of Athens. A Graveside service will follow the Visitation at Cedar Grove Cemetery of Athens with Pastor Austin Davis officiating.
