Laura Jean Hullander passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at Life Care Center of Collegedale. She was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life.
Laura Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Buddy Hullander, and by her parents, Jack and Juanita Brooks.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa Lynn Michel and husband Paul; her sons, David Hullander, and Douglas Hullander and wife Angela. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Laura Lynn Oxendine and husband Tyler, Patrick Michel, Shannon Michel and husband Matt, and Kayla Parker. She was also blessed with two cherished great-grandsons, Levi Oxendine and Jude Oxendine. Laura Jean is also survived by her special friend, Kathy Crouch.
A longtime member of Morris Hill Baptist Church, Laura Jean especially loved attending Sunday School and sharing fellowship with her church family. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and a source of strength, comfort, and joy.
Laura Jean found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, cooking, and crafting, but nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family. She was known for her warm heart, caring spirit, and the love she freely shared with those around her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Life Care Center of Collegedale for the loving care, friendship, and support they provided. Laura Jean brought joy to everyone she met, and the kindness shown to her during her time there will always be remembered.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home, 6018 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Lunch will be served at the funeral home following the service, with burial afterward at Plowman Cemetery in Apison, Tennessee.
Laura Jean's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
