Lucille Epperson, 89, of Tennga, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Willow Acres in Riceville, Tennessee, after a long battle with dementia. She was born on August 18, 1937 in Conasauga, Georgia. Lucille worked all of her adult life in carpet mills. She retired from Diamond Carpets, Eton, Georgia and later worked for several years at Conquest Carpets in Dalton, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, PH Epperson, her father, Luther Maxwell, mother and stepfather, Cedell and George Hardin, brothers and sisters, Mae Shannon, George Maxwell, Jane Patton, Judy Edwards, Thomas Maxwell, sons, Luther Maxwell and James Maxwell, and grandson, Joey Richards.
Lucille is survived by her children, Richard "Boone" (Pat) Maxwell, Anne (Robert) Richards, Henry (Tammy) Epperson, grandchildren, Chad Maxwell, BJ Maxwell, Taylor Richards, and Misti Jarrett, brothers and sisters, Stella Tilley, Grover Hardin, Cecil Harden, Marvin Hardin, and Alice Dalton, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga, Willow Acres, and Lucille's dear friend, Sonya Mcdermott.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 2:30 pm at Companion Funeral Home- Cleveland Chapel, with Pastor Chad Maxwell officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00-2:30pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Tennga Cemetery.
