Ruel “Lamar” Headrick, age 81, of Cleveland, TN, formerly of Ringgold, GA, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on January 8th, 2026. He was born on January 27th, 1944, to the late Cecil and Lola (Fletcher) Headrick. Lamar proudly served his country in the United States Army for 6 years. Lamar was an accomplished welder who spent his career at Chattanooga Boiler and Tank. He retired from there in 2013, at the age of 70. He enjoyed working outside, fast cars, and motorcycles. He had a lifelong passion for working out and fitness. Above all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Headrick, Harold Headrick (Lola), Donnie Headrick (Helen); and sisters, Jewel Grant and Judy Adkins.
He is survived by his only child, Lisa Thatch (Tony); grandchildren, Cassidy Turner (Johnathon) and Corey Thatch (Michelle); great-granddaughter, Amelia Turner; brothers, Richard Headrick (Carolyn) and Thurman Headrick (Norma, deceased); sister, Rena Peters (Alvin, deceased), and bonus brother, RC Grant, all of Ringgold; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at the Chattanooga Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 6018 John Douglass Drive in Chattanooga. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation beginning at 6:00PM with Grady Cooper officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude, Children’s Miracle Network, Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice in Lamar’s honor.
