Kristine M. Saltzman, a devoted mother, grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away on January 19, 2026, in Tennessee, at the age of 56.
Born on July 14, 1969, in California, Kristine was first and foremost a mom, and later in life a proud grandmother who deeply loved her family. Her strength, dedication, and steady presence shaped the lives of those closest to her.
Kristine honorably served her country in the United States Navy for 20 years, enlisting in 1988 and retiring in 2007. During her military career, she received several awards and commendations in recognition of her service and commitment. Following her retirement from the Navy, she continued her career as a contractor for the Department of Energy, working in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory badging office for nearly 20 years, before later transitioning to the Security Support Team for the Office of Technical Services at the Federal Building.
As a voracious reader, Kristine found joy, comfort, and connection through books-a love she shared with both her daughter and her granddaughter. She was also known for being a loyal and deeply supportive friend. Kristine welcomed and cared for many of her daughter's friends as if they were her own children, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of home to all who needed it.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen L. Toohey-Maeda (née Sandkulla); her step-father, Wayne H. Maeda; her younger brother, Matthew K. Saltzman; and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her daughter, Brittany M. Feerer; her son-in-law, David A. Feerer; and her beloved granddaughter, Freya L. Feerer. She is also survived by her father, Allen N. Saltzman; her step-mother, Lois A. Saltzman (née Sarasin); her sister, Kaitlin A. Saltzman; her brother, James E. Saltzman; as well as many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will miss her deeply.
Kristine's life was marked by service, love and quiet strength. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched.
A wake will be held in her home Saturday, January 31st, 2026 from 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. EST. Reach out to Brittany M. Feerer for additional information.
