Kevin Lamar "Cootie" King

Kevin “Cootie” Lamar King, age 63, departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Kevin was born to the late George King Jr. and Maryann Crenshaw Smith.

Kevin was a graduate of Charleston High School, Class of 1976. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on cars, and music. Kevin played the guitar for Watson Chapel Church Choir in Charleston, Tennessee. He loved having fun with family and friends.

Along with his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillian Crenshaw, George Sr., and Getrude King; his sister-in-law, Jackie Crenshaw; his brothers, Jim and Gene King.

He is survived by his son, Martin King of Charleston, TN; his longtime partner of 32 years, Sherry Hamilton of Athens, TN; his grandchildren, Shontel, Ciara, Kharma, and Maxamus King of Charleston, TN; his brothers, Stacey Crenshaw, Keith (Connie) Crenshaw of Charleston, TN; his granddaughter and extended family, Tony Anderson and Khole Anderson; his uncles, Paul (Jean) Crenshaw of Riceville, TN, Glenn Crenshaw of Wichita, Kansas; his aunts, Roberta (Tommy) Jackson and Shirley Crenshaw of Etowah, TN; along with a host of family and friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home of Athens.
