Kenneth Murray

Kenneth D. Murray, 91, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home. The 11th child of the late Robert & Sloma Murray, Ken was born December 3, 1933, in Cleveland, TN.

Ken was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of many with his acts of kindness, warmth and generosity. Prior to his illness, he faithfully attended North Cleveland Church of God.

He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1954. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge, he was employed with Olin Corporation for 26 years.

Retirement allowed many days for hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. Special memories were specially made at the annual fish fry and pig roast.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Harry Murray, C. L. Murray, Ruby Carlton, Pauline Hammond, Forrest Murray, Ruth Melton, Marvin Murray, and Mary Murray.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Ivan Murray and Lester Gus Murray (Sandra), Cleveland; J.N. Murray (Betty) and Carl Murray (Barbara), Georgetown, Larry Murray (Brenda), Ardmore, OK; sisters, Robbie Tucker, Kingston, Carolyn Beavers, Georgetown, and Shirley Rominger (Bill), Cleveland. He is also survived by his extended family and close friends, Dan Cross, John Shelton, Mack Streun, David and Cora Shope and residents of the Tennessee State Veterans Home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Cleveland, Tennessee, for their professional and kind care of Kenneth. The residents became his family, and he especially enjoyed his time with them as they shared about their life in the United States Air Force.

A Celebration of Ken's life will be Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Companion Funeral Home Ridge Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00; with services to immediately follow. Ken's brother Larry Murray will officiate. The family will have a private committal service later to include Military Honors, in recognition of his service in the USAF.
