Kenneth Lynn Barnes, born February 7, 1952, in McCaysville, Georgia, was the son of the late Hugh Lynn Barnes and Jewel Barnes.
Ken spent many years caring for others through his work as a nurse in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. His compassion, intelligence, and curiosity were evident not only in his career but throughout his life.
Ken had many interests, and when something captured his attention, he had a way of learning everything he could about it. He was an avid reader and especially loved science fiction. A talented writer himself, Ken wrote and published a novel, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. He also loved cats and enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending his mornings at Wired Coffee.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his son, Corey Barnes; grandson, Gavin Barnes; sister, Linda Gill; niece, Amy Gill-Wood and her husband, Ryan Wood; nephew, Kevin Gill and his wife, Penny; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and other family members who loved him dearly.
He also leaves behind cherished friendships with John, Brian, Kim, and Tom, along with many other friends whose lives were touched by his friendship, humor, knowledge, and unique way of looking at the world.
Ken will be deeply missed by his family and by the many friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
In accordance with Ken's wishes, there will be no service.
