Katina Lynn Roy, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Katina spent part of her youth in Alaska before eventually making Tennessee her home.

Katina was preceded in death by her brother Ronny Smith, her parents, Mary Elizabeth and William Smith. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers Randy Smith, Joseph Ross, Michael Goodrich, Robert Goodrich and her children, Alexandria Megan Roy and Denholm Elliot Roy, who were the pride and joy of her life.

She was adopted at a young age to the Smiths, her parents, along with her younger twin brothers Ronny and Randy. Later in life she reconnected with her biological brothers as adults, Joseph, Michael and Robert after they found each other online, and it brought her tremendous joy.

Throughout her life, Katina pursued many paths with curiosity, resilience, and determination. In Alaska, she worked with park recreation services and developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She later served as a welder for the U.S. Navy, a role that reflected her strength and dedication. Never one to stop learning, Katina went on to earn a degree in computer science and built a career in information technology services.

Outside of her work, Katina lived a life rich with creativity and compassion. She enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved, hiking in nature, and quilting. Perhaps most meaningful to her was her passion for helping animals. Katina devoted countless hours volunteering to foster cats and kittens, giving them care, patience, and a chance at loving homes.

In 2024, her dedication to helping animals was recognized when she was named Volunteer of the Year by her company, SAIC, for her work with Feral Feline Friends of East Tennessee. Her kindness and commitment made a lasting difference for many animals and the people who cared for them.

Katina will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, quiet strength, and the deep love she had for her family, her community, and the animals she helped along the way.

In lieu of flowers, Katina requested that donations be made in her honor to Feral Feline Friends of East Tennessee.

A memorial service celebrating Katina's life will be held outside at the Roy residence on Saturday, March 28, where family and friends will gather at 2 pm to share memories and honor the life she lived.
