June Lee Cawood, 97, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Tuesday night, January 16, 2018 peacefully and in full knowledge of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. June was born in Cleveland on June 6, 1920 a daughter of the late Charles and Maude Hensley Lee. She worked for many years at Manufacturers Soap and Chemical Company. Although she worked outside the home, she enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family and home. June was a faithful member of North Cleveland Baptist Church where she took great joy in teaching Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her parents, June is preceded in death by her husband of seventy three years T. J. Cawood, one son Alan L. Cawood, four brothers G. B. Lee, Harold Lee, David Lee and Jack Lee and one sister Ruth Lee Harmon.
June leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children David R. Cawood and wife Peggy and Anita Cawood Bates and her husband Bill, all of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Carla Watson Cawood of Ooltewah; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Donna) Cawood, Jennifer (Rhey) Houston, Douglas (Heidi) Cawood, Amy (Tracy) Rothwell, David (Tonya) Cawood, Jr., Dustin (Patti) Cawood, Kristi Cawood, Trae (Shannon) Bates, Judson (Chrystal) Bates and Richard Bates; 24 great grandchildren; brothers in law Taylor Cawood, Norman Barnard both of Cleveland and sister in law Joan Cawood also of Cleveland. She is also survived by numerous extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the North Cleveland Baptist Church with Dr. Jay McCluskey and Pastor Michael Cawood officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lee Family Section at New Friendship Cemetery with Dr. William Bates III, Richard Alan Bates, Dr. Thomas Judson Bates, David Cawood Jr., Dustin Cawood, Douglas Cawood, Rhey Houston, Tracy Rothwell, Cody Branham, Hayden Branham, Corbin Cawood and Kellye Cawood serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 AM service time.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in June’s memory to North Cleveland Baptist Church, American Bible Society or the charity of your choice.
