Listen to Obituary

Joyce Reynolds Schock of Chattanooga passed away Monday, April 13th, after a long battle with cancer. Born November 16th, 1936, she was the daughter of Claude and Eloise Reynolds of Chattanooga.

Joyce loved family gatherings, the friends she made over the years, and was a very competitive tennis player. A member of the Chattanooga Racquet Club for many years, Hixson, Tennessee, she participated in many league tournaments, as well as USTA tournaments all over the country. She loved not only playing tennis but also the time spent off the court with the many friends that she made and played with over the years.

She also loved attending as many of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and was so happy that both of her grandsons enjoyed playing tennis as well. She was most happy at family gatherings, spending time with loved ones and laughing about the many good times they had.

She and her husband Edgar enjoyed traveling, and especially one very special trip to Europe, with her sister Marye, and brother-in-law, Leon. She and Edgar also enjoyed bicycling and hiking the ridge behind their home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edgar W. Schock, her brothers, Carl and Glen Reynolds, her sisters, Gail Reynolds Sade, and Claudia Reynolds Wagner.

She is survived by her children, Connie Schock Longley, Mark (Linda) Schock, Kelly Schock (Chip) Chipman, grandsons Tyler Chipman, Barrett (Kelly) Schock, and her sisters Marye Reynolds (Leon) Massey and Barbara Reynolds Seder.

Joyce will be remembered for her commitment to family, friends, and her lifelong passion for Tennis.

There will be a private graveside memorial at Forest Hills Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Rockbride Oaks for the love and care they gave their mom over the last several years as well as Gentiva Hospice.
