Joyce Curtis

Joyce "Joy" Crittenden Curtis, 70, of Riceville, TN went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2026.

Joy was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gary Dean Curtis. She had a love for traveling and found great joy in cooking for those she loved. Joy also had a special affection for raising dogs, especially Shih Tzus. Above all, her greatest happiness came from being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceded in death by her parents, JR and Ruby Crittenden; brother, Jimmy Crittenden; children, Ricky Curtis, Jason Curtis, Tiffany Shields; and grandchild, Camden Blackwelder.

Survivors include her loving husband, Gary Dean Curtis; children, Tabatha (Eric) Price, Amber (Brent) Jones, Lacey (Brian) Richesin, Gary Dean Curtis Jr, and Kristi (Larry) Mingledorff; grandchildren, Rylan Oliver, Skylar Price, Devin (Sarah) Price, David Price, Ashlyn (Nathan) Wilcox, Bailey Jones, Chelsee Jones, Peyton Curtis, Logan Blackwelder, Alexis Richesin, Bryson Richesin, Killian Curtis, Dekota (Desiree) Curtis, Garret Shields, Landon Shields, Jayden Maddox, and Dylan Mingledorff; great grandchildren, Alaska Hall, Mikko Price, Caelum Curtis, Remi Shields, Luna Shields, Linda Maddox, and Beau Maddox; sister, Ingrid (Mike) Gann; special friend, Wilma Murr; she also leaves behind her loving companion, Sammy; and several nieces, nephews and other loved family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 5:00pm at Companion Funeral Home of Athens. A visitation will be held prior from 3:00pm-5:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11:00am at McMinn Memory Gardens.
