Joyce (Joi) Kay (Paul) Cox, age 76, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed away on March 8, 2026.
Joi was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her. She had a special way of making people feel welcome-often opening her home to friends and loved ones in need, offering comfort, kindness, and a place to belong.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures. Joi loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading novels by Stephen King, working on crossword puzzles, and enjoying Hershey's Drops. Her love for her family was constant and deeply felt, and she gave that love freely and fully.
Originally from Kansas, Joi later made her home in Tennessee after getting married. Though Tennessee became her permanent home, she always held fond memories of Kansas close to her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Shanahan (Mike), and her son, Dalton Cox (fiancée Amber). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Zakrye and Jaikeb Cox; and Michael, Josephine (Josie), Remington (Remi), and Paul Shanahan.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to UT Hospice, especially her nurse, Rachel, for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown during Joi's final days.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral service will be held. Amy and Dalton will host a Celebration of Life on April 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Amy's home.
Joi will be remembered for her open heart, her generosity, and the way she cared deeply for everyone around her. Her love and presence will be missed beyond words.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Joyce and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Oak Ridge, TN, is honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
