Joshua Taylor "Cornbread" Yarber, 37 of Cleveland, passed away surrounded by family on July 10, 2026. Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Ware and Ron & Stella Yarber, aunt, Lisa Yarber Pack and uncle, Bryan Yarber all of Cleveland.
He left behind to cherish his memory, his loving mother Christy Ware Sample (Chris) and father Anthony Yarber (Sabrina), of Cleveland. His children Dakoda Whaley (Sophie) and Whitley Jo Yarber of Reliance, TN and Jackson Yarber of Smyra, TN. Step sisters, Beth Sample (Clay) of Knoxville and Sarah Walker of Cleveland. His brothers Tucker Yarber, Chance Yarber (Kloie), Weston Yarber, and Briggs Yarber all of Cleveland. His beloved grandmother Weedie Ware of Cleveland. aunt Donna Ellis (Tim) of Riceville and numerous cousins and close friends.
Josh was loved by all who knew him, he never met a stranger. His smile was infectious and his sense of humor beyond compare.
Josh was a gifted drummer and loved to play for all who would listen. He began playing at the age of 4. His love for music was unmatched and his musical tastes ranged from Southern Gospel to Heavy Metal, a love he shared particularly with his Mom. They often played "Name that Tune/Artist" and both would try to out do the other. They shared many fond memories around music.
He had a love for cars, especially Fox body Mustangs. He loved to tinker and work on all sorts of cars and trucks. He spent many years in the car part industry as a parts salesman.
Josh was an avid sports fan who loved to cheer on his Florida Gators and "whoever" Tim Tebow was playing for. He was also a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. He loved watching the NFL and playing Fantasy Football as well as watching NBA, UFC and professional wrestling.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 at Companion Funeral Home Ridge Chapel, with Pastors Dakoda Whaley and Chris Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the Celebration of Life from 12pm-3pm, July 17, 2026 at the Ridge Chapel.
The interment will follow at Hiwassee Memorial Gardens in Charleston with Dustin Rollins, Blake Hooker, David Blankenship, Brad Meyers, Cody Whaley and Chris Hudson serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the physicians, nurses and staff at Bradley Medical Center and Hospice of Chattanooga, Cleveland office (Pansy Gamble) for their care and attentiveness throughout Josh's illness.
