Josephine Burchfield, age 85, of Cleveland, Tennessee, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. She passed peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 3,1941, in Spring Creek, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Addie Sue Lee Burchfield and Horace Burchfield. Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter Marie Michelle Bancroft, son Perry Alan Bancroft, a beloved friend Lamuel Don Bancroft, her two brothers Boyd Burchfield, Lake Burchfield and sisters Mae Ballew, Marie Higgins, and Margaret Hill.

More than anything, Josephine cherished her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit, warm heart and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her. She found joy in caring for others, sharing laughter, and creating a home filled with love. Her family will forever remember her kindness, strength, and the comfort of her presence.

Josephine is survived by her children and grandchildren: the late Perry Bancroft (Christine) and his children Charlotte Bancroft and Marie White; Donna Stephens (Scott), and their children Amy Williams (Dustin) and Trevor Stephens (Leigh); Lisa Moses (David), and their children Amber Burks (Michael), Addie Gonzalez (Garrett), and Samuel Moses; and Anna Anderson (Ben), and their children Joseph Anderson and Sarah Anderson. She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Cimino (Vince), sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind her lifelong friend Wilma Wright Johnson along with many special friends and extended family members who will deeply miss her.

Josephine did not wish to have a formal service; the family will celebrate her life privately. They invite all who knew and loved her to honor her memory in their own way and to share the stories that made her so special.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Josephine or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
