Joseph Russell Sexton, age 85, of Calhoun, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026.
Born on September 5, 1940, Joseph lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his country, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he honorably served as an airplane mechanic, carrying his strong work ethic and mechanical skill throughout his life.
Joseph had a passion for working with his hands. He found great enjoyment in working on cars and motorcycles, tending to his garden, and building model trains and airplanes. These hobbies reflected his patience, creativity, and love for craftsmanship. He was also a man of faith and most recently held membership at the Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lovell Sexton; his parents, Carlos Russell and Aurilla Sexton; and his brother, Paul Sexton.
Joseph leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his son, Kevin (Kathy) Sexton; his daughters, Penny (Russ) McDaniel and Sherrie (Roger) McCamish; his grandsons, Preston McDaniel and Brandon (Shandi) McDaniel; his granddaughter, Christina McCamish; his great-granddaughters, Makenna McDaniel and Ady White; his great-grandsons, Spencer McDaniel, Landon Woody, and Greyson Woody; his brothers, Dewey, Steve, and Tim Sexton; and his sister, Margaret Sexton. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church Cemetery in Calhoun, Tennessee, with Pastor James Johnson officiating.
