Joseph Larry Hooper Sr.

Joseph Larry Hooper Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on July 23, 1941, at the family farm to the late Joseph Brackett Hooper and Marie Geren Hooper. He graduated from Bradley High School and later attended the University of Tennessee.

In 1962, Larry moved to Delray Beach, Florida, where he joined his father in the Hooper Cattle Company. His work in the cattle and dairy industry quickly became a lifelong passion. In 1980, Larry and Dennis Coulter formed Wabasso Dairy, which Larry operated for 42 years before retiring.

Outside of his work, Larry was an avid golfer who enjoyed sharing his love of the game with his two sons. He also treasured many memorable deep-sea fishing trips with friends. Above all, one of his greatest joys was being "Poppy" to his beloved granddaughter, Isabella.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Sandra DeBellis Hooper; his two sons, Joseph Larry Hooper Jr. (Renee) and Brian Geren Hooper (April); his granddaughter, Isabella Hooper; his sister, Judy Hooper Chandler (Bill); and several cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Larry's family will receive friends on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Companion Funeral Home "Ridge Sanctuary, located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, Tennessee. Interment will follow at Candies Creek Cemetery.

Don Ledford, Clarke Taylor, Bobbie Don Vincent, Cameron Saylors, Scott Sussdorff, and Aaron Cagle will serve as pallbearers.

The family welcomes flowers in Larry's honor. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Candies Creek Baptist Church in Charleston, Tennessee, or to the Tennessee Alzheimer's Association .

Larry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his lifelong passion for the cattle and dairy industry, the friendships he built throughout his life, and the many memories he shared with those he loved.
