Listen to Obituary

Jonathan Blake Deal, "Blake" of Cleveland, TN passed away on September 6, 2025 peacefully at home at the age of 40.

Blake most enjoyed spending time with his family, furkids, friends, and his beloved wife Shannon Bedwell Deal. Blake was born with a rare gift-the kind of intuition that helps you tell what's good before others even see it. He had an eye for beauty, a natural sense for what truly mattered, and a devotion to the extraordinary. His knowledge spanned Mid Century Modern furniture and art, and he carried that expertise with humility, generosity, and a contagious passion. He stood apart, not for show but for the genuine difference he made. Blake sought the anomaly, the one-of-a-kind treasure that could bring a room to life and a heart a little closer to joy. He was, in every sense, a hunter for rarity-yet he hunted not for himself alone, but to celebrate the people he cared about. He found countless remarkable pieces for many, and in the process, he found his way into their stories, too.

Blake was more than a collector. He was a builder-of furniture, of artworks, and of connections. He created things that were not only beautiful but meaningful, crafted with thought, care, and an innovative spirit. He had a way of letting you know you were important, sharing his art and his craft, his knowledge and his kindness, with a generosity that left a lasting impression. An innovator at heart, Blake approached life with a curious mind and a compassionate soul. He saw potential where others might not look, and he invited you to see it, too. He believed in the Craft of Mid Century-finding that special piece, that perfect fit, that moment when everything clicks-and he brought that magic to those around him. Blake's warmth, curiosity, and distinctive voice are missed deeply. He was a remarkable friend-rare, thoughtful, and endlessly supportive. He found the extraordinary in people and things alike, and his legacy lives on in the beauty he surrounded us with and the care he showed. He was a kind, innovative spirit who left us far too soon. May we remember him by the unique light he carried and the love he shared-gifted to us through his finds, his artwork, and his unwavering belief in what could be extraordinary. And even though he is "Still not Famous" he will forever BE FAMOUS to all who knew him.

Blake wasn't about following trends-he was a true innovator, always trying new textures, materials, and ideas. His abstract work has a unique spark that lights up any room, and you can feel his bold, curious spirit in every piece. Some favorites? The "Still Not Famous" series has that sly, playful edge, and "Put on Your Hustlin' Shoes" pulses with momentum and swagger. Blake turned ordinary things into stories and made you want to look twice. He lived for originality, mixing textures and tones to create something that felt both fresh and personal. In short: unique, creative, and unmistakably Blake. And he inspired us to all want to put on our Hustlin Shoes too. Blake loved riding motorcycles, jumping out of airplanes, driving his mustangs, he always delighted in a life in the fast lane. He will be remembered not only for his talents and entrepreneurial spirit, but also for his kindness, humor, and resilience. Blake fought his battle with stage 4 metastatic colorectal cancer fiercely and courageously for the past year and a half. He faced his illness with remarkable strength and grace, continuing to inspire everyone around him. Blake is preceded in death by his beloved Bella Jinx. Blake is survived by the love of his life, Shannon, furkids Floof and Socks, and a host of cherished family and friends.
