Johnny Morgan, age 72, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 11, 1953, to the late Clarence and Pearlee Morgan.

Johnny was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in God's creation. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, bird watching, and whittling cedar. He was a collector of many treasured items, including guns, knives, and fishing lures. Johnny was known for his warm spirit, quick wit, and desire to bring happiness to those around him. He never met a stranger and formed friendships wherever he went. Johnny was devoted to his faith and dearly loved his congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Madisonville, TN.

In addition to his parents, Clarence and Pearlee, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Boyd Morgan, Pat Morgan, and Jackie "Jack" Morgan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 25 years, Darlene Morgan; his children, Chris Morgan (Rachel) and Tyler Morgan; stepchildren, Billy Miller (Janet) and April Rogers (Norman); and his beloved grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as "Ol Papaw": Alayna Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Hailie Morgan, Aaliyah Morgan, Lucas Morgan, Shelby Cockrum, Sydney Cockrum, Molly Wilcox, Alexandria Neal, and Anthony Phillips. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Miller Cockrum, Myles Hayes, Coleson Morgan, Autumn Morgan, Amelia Jackson, and "Christian" Johnny Morgan; sister, Alice Morgan; brother, Robert Morgan (Susie); special niece and nephews, Allen Morgan, Keith Morgan and Shelia "Missy" Russell; and close friends, Cotton Sewell and Richard Best. He also leaves behind many other extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home in Athens, Tennessee.
