John Sharer

May 14, 1937 — June 27, 2025

John Lewis Sharer, age 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, John lived a life marked by deep love, service, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

John was a proud and active member of AA for 50 years, where he found purpose, healing, and helped countless others on their journey. He also served as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, dedicated to the safety and education of others on the water.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nona Sharer; his beloved son, Jame Sharer; his stepmother, Audrey (Litton) Sharer; his brothers, Joe Sharer and Curt Sharer; and his sisters, Lois Nelson and Judy Brady.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathleen Sharer; daughters Linda (Garrett) Barrera, Kimberly (David) Olin, and Carolyn Liden; sons Jon Brent Sharer and Jeff (Mitzi) Sharer; sisters Joanie Cornell and Terri (Ray Dunn) Oberhaus; grandchildren Ashley, Megan, Brooke, Alysha, Aaron, Brandon, Anthony, and Chase; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John's legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and devotion. He touched many lives with his steady presence, warm heart, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
