John "Paps" Pritt Sr, 71, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Powell, TN.
John was born on July 29, 1954 in Charleston, WV, to John and Lula Pritt. After completing school, he joined the Marines 1971. In 1973 he went on to earn a medal for National Defense Service and M14 Rifle Marksmanship. After serving he started his career as a machinist, and went on to work for many years until retiring.
John married the love of his life, and best friend Sandra Pritt on April 4, 1993.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lula Pritt, along with his brother Brian Pritt.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra Pritt of Maynardville, TN; his sister Linda Reed; his sons John Pritt Jr. and Ian Pritt; his step-daughter Sherry Pritt; his daughters-in-law Kendrea Pritt and Gabrielle Pritt; his granddaughters Catherine Workman, Taylor Pierce and Ashley Bell; Kirsten Pritt; his grandsons Michael Pritt and Emmett Pritt; his great grandson Isaac Bell; his great granddaughters Isla Bell and Liliann Pierce; and dear friend Robert Willey.
John was an amazing father, grandfather, and husband. He had a passion for the outdoors, gardening, animals, music, cooking, playing pool, NASCAR and bowling. He was an avid collector of many things, including his pursuit of knowledge. Favorite memories are summers with his granddaughters Catherine Workman and Ashley Bell; and enjoying endless banana bread with a glass of Ovaltine.
The service for Mr. John Pritt, Sr. will be held at East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made in John's name to The Parkinson's Foundation.
