John Moore

John Edward Moore passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of 78.

He was preceded in death by his father Don Edward Moore; mother Jessie Lee Kelley Moore; brother Michael Don Moore; and grandson Jacob Aaron Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Hale Moore; daughters Aimee DePriest (Scott), Julie McCaslin (Ivan), Kathy Clark (John), and Jean Sneed (Garth); grandchildren Hunter McCaslin (Brooke), Tyler DePriest (Alyssa), Jennifer Poole (Alex), Braden, Grace (Amber), and Myles Sneed; great-grandchildren Grayson and Maggie Poole and Shiloh DePriest; and sister June Moore Colvin.

He was a devoted family man who loved and cherished his family and treasured every opportunity to "build memories" with the most important people in his life.

John had a successful career that included 34 years at Bowater in various accounting and woodlands positions. He moved to Warren, Arkansas, to serve Potlatch Corporation as Director of Security. Jacksonville, Florida, was his next move where he left the corporate business world and joined the outdoor world working on various golf courses that afforded him many opportunities to play the game he loved. Golf was his work, his fun, his physical exercise, and a source of joy as well as some major frustrations when his golf game was not up to "par."

John and Beth moved back to Cleveland in 2023 to be closer to their family. Retirement gave them many opportunities to spend time with those they treasured the most.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311.

In lieu of flowers, John's family requests that donations be made to American Whitewater at americanwhitewater.org or Ecuadorian Rivers Institute at ecuadorianrivers.org. These were special organizations to his grandson, Jacob.
