John William Hamrick, born December 18, 1939, in Rocky Top, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Clara (Millard) Hamrick; his brother, Lawrence Hamrick (Sue); his son-in-law, Tom Cook; and his grandson, Sean Cook.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Hollis; his sister, Jane (Ed) Parrish; his children, Stacy Cook, Kelly Hamrick, Brent (Leslie) Hamrick, and Courtney (Erwin) Vargas; his grandchildren, Thomas Cook, Regan (Scott) Rinehart, Olivia Hamrick, Natalia and Maria Vargas; and his great-grandchildren, Waylon, Elizabeth, Kip, and Rhett Rinehart.

John graduated from Hixson High School in 1957, received his associate degree from Freed-Hardeman College in 1960, and went on to earn his pharmacy degree from Mercer University in 1962. He faithfully served as a pharmacist for 48 years, caring for generations of families with patience and compassion.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He loved fishing, woodworking, cheering for the University of Tennessee, and watching his grandchildren compete in sports. More than anything, he loved his family and was deeply dedicated to them.

John was a good man and everything that entails. What will be cherished most is his gentle heart. He was a constant, reassuring presence who shone brightest in quiet moments, offering comfort and love. His life embodied Christian love.

A celebration of life will be held on May 9, 2026. Details will be announced at a later date.
