John T. "JT" Guinn, also known to many as "Terry," age 70, of Chatsworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him.

Born in Ft. Benning, GA, JT lived a life defined by service, humor, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him. He never met a stranger, and he was known for signing off many conversations with his trademark phrase: "Thanks, boss."

JT worked in several fields throughout his life, most notably as a draftsman, commercial driver, Deputy Sheriff, and Rescue Squad volunteer. He also had a deep and longstanding passion for Scouting, serving in roles ranging from Pack Leader to Scoutmaster. Through Scouting, he shaped and encouraged countless young people, instilling skills, confidence, and a spirit of adventure.

He enjoyed tinkering, modeling, and socializing, and could often be found working on a project, sharing stories, or lending a practical hand to anyone who needed it.

JT is survived by his significant other, Brenda Varnell of Chatsworth; his sons Jake Guinn of McGaheysville, VA, and Mason of Chatsworth; his daughter-in-law Haley of McGaheysville, VA; his treasured grandchildren Lucas, Gavin, and Parker, all of McGaheysville, VA; his sister and brother-in-law Gwen & David Hyde of Cleveland, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father J.B. Guinn, his mother Jenna Hooper, his stepfather Bernard Hooper, and his brother Timothy Guinn.

JT will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his steady presence, and the heart he brought to every role in his life-father, partner, grandfather, brother, friend, mentor, and neighbor.

Memorial Service details will be announced at a later time.
