John Keith Gass

John Keith “Gizzy” Gass, 45, of LaFayette, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. He was born on May 16, 1980, in Fort Oglethorpe to his parents, Martin Keith Gass and Babette Gifford Smith. John enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his cats, who held a special place in his heart and brought him constant companionship. He was also a lifelong, passionate fan of the University of Alabama football and rarely missed a game, proudly cheering on his team every season. John carried a deep love for his family. He shared a special and unbreakable bond with his son, Preston, who was truly his pride and joy and the center of his world. He loved his wife, Sandra, deeply and faithfully.

John was preceded in death by his father, Martin Keith Gass.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra; his beloved son, Preston (Carrie) Gass; daughter, Cheyenne; his parents, Babette and Terry Smith; siblings, Angel (Jeremy) Stuart, Andrew (Kelsey) Shepherd, Brandi (Justin) Dixon, and Terrill Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. “Gizzy” will be missed by his work family at Happy Feet International.

To honor John’s wishes, a Private Celebration of Life will be held by his family at a later date.
