December 27, 1933 - June 15, 2025

Joe passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 15, 2025. Joe known to many as "The Candy Man" as his mission was to bring joy to the hearts of many through his various charitable contributions. He didn't want to see anyone go hungry or without clothing. As for being "The Candy Man", through his walks he would hand you a mint or butterscotch to anyone that passed by him especially his daily walks through Walmart on Treasury Drive. They all loved it and it brought many smiles to them as he would always ask "Have you been good today" and then he would give them a candy and he did this for any years and so his name became "The Candy Man". You could also find him strolling through on a bike or lawn mower picking up trash on Dalton Pike, as the paper also did a write up on him for his volunteer work. Joe was also a Marine veteran serving in the Korean War. We all loved and will miss our "Candy Man". Teresa would like to thank Charter Senior Living and Hearth Hospice for their care of "Joe Man" as she called him.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Alva and Genevieve Edman, his brother James Edman, and sister Carolyn Titus. He is survived by his precious and beautiful wife of 68 years Joan Wilson Edman, son John Edman, daughter Jennifer Edman Alexander, his sister Marjourie Smith, his three grandchildren Robert, Nathanial, and Samantha and very special friend who loved and cared for him Teresa Mantooth.

A memorial will be held at Charity Baptist Church at a later date.
